You should turn this on, and this alone, if it wasn't turned on for you, should give you the (desirable) behaviour I showed on my system. I think it's a default setting, but if not, it's something I turned on a *long* time ago as I don't have much UAD2 resources.

I do however, have 'Release all UAD DSP resources on AU bypass' turned on, and this is probably the reason for the behaviour I showed you on my system before.
